With an increase in the investor fraternity and the amount of investment made, and with a sharp rise in business finances and investments, there has been a huge increase in the opportunities for financial planners.

There is an expectation of substantial future growth in the area of financial planning and it is expected to become one of the most sought after hottest professions of the future. This has prompted a large number of youth to pursue studies which will help them to become a financial planner.


A financial analyst can build up his career as a self employed professional or can work for other organizations as an employee. As a self employed professional, a financial planner can work as a financial advisor for individuals and corporate. Although there is a competitive environment for small financial advisors, yet with an increase in the awareness regarding financial planning and investment, the financial planners will continue receiving opportunities to render their services to the investor fraternity.


There are also numerous job opportunities available for financial planners in the corporate sector. With the increase in business finances and investments, the requirement of a qualified financial planner in every organization is becoming important. Deregulation in the financial services industry has acted as a catalyst in their business growth and hence the demand for financial planners increased worldwide.


Sectors in which there are large numbers of job opportunities for financial planners include Insurance, Investment banking, commercial banking, corporate finance, money management, real estate industry. Not only this, financial planning is becoming more and more important in manufacturing industries also as it is helpful in attaining the targets of the organization by regulating the generation and utilization of funds.


Banking sector is diversifying into investment activities and securities brokerage and as such they are in need of financial analysts and planners to support their customers.  With the increase in popularity of mutual funds and an inclination to invest in mutual funds amongst the investor fraternity, there has also been increasing opportunities for financial planners in the mutual fund industry. Likewise, Insurance sector is also rising day by day and are hiring qualified professionals to advise their clients on various Insurance proposals and get business for them.


In investment banking sector the need for financial planners and analysts is rising everyday for generating funds and helping in assessment of mergers and acquisition proposals. However, the requirements of financial analysts in the Investment banking sector is directly linked with the stock market performance as a bull market initiates more investment opportunities and the demand for financial analysts rises.


In all large industries and manufacturing sectors, there is a need for a financial planner in order to maintain proper generation and utilization of funds, formulation of policies for financial planning etc. An organization with a proper financial planning is bound to achieve greater success then an organization which does not follow a planned financial route. So the demand for qualified professionals in the field of financial planning is there in the industrial sector also.

However, with all the demand growing there are also large number of students who are becoming qualified every year and the top job positions are heavily contested and bagged by the most deserving ones. There has also been a trend of outsourcing the research work to outside agencies which may also reduce the demand of financial analysts in future.
